Metaphorically, the phrase “to Timbuktu and back again” describes a difficult journey to a faraway land. Joan brought this metaphor to life traveling through the West African countries of Togo, Ghana, Benin, Mali and Burkina Faso. Her visits to slave castles, tribal villages, Voodoo ceremonies, and the ancient city of Timbuktu created unforgettable memories that are preserved by images she captured, reflecting the essence of these unique and disappearing cultures.

Social hour begins at 6 pm with food and drinks for purchase served until 7. The presentation and Q&A are from 7-8pm.
